Feature

Supervision by a Professor Who Serves as a Full-Time Occupational Physician at Kyoto University

The supervising professor in our department is currently practicing as a full-time occupational physician and health management physician at Kyoto University, and is engaged daily at the forefront of occupational medicine.
Through regular supervision, conferences, and other academic activities, students will have frequent opportunities to learn about key academic topics and the latest developments in occupational medicine.

Opportunities for Occupational Health Training

Students in our department have the opportunity to attend training seminars on occupational medicine and health offered by the Occupational Welfare Division.
These seminars are conducted throughout the year to enhance the professional competencies of the division’s occupational health staff. They provide a wealth of practical knowledge and expertise that can only be acquired through frontline experience.
Students attend these sessions alongside active occupational health professionals, allowing them to ask questions and engage in discussions. These seminars are highly beneficial for students aiming to play leading roles in occupational medicine and health in the future.

Opportunities to Study Occupational Safety and Health Laws and Regulations

One reason the role of occupational physicians can be difficult to grasp is that their activities and health practices are firmly rooted in occupational safety and health laws—most notably the Industrial Safety and Health Act.
Through regular conferences and other academic activities in our department, students will have the opportunity to study these complex regulations, which can be challenging to master independently.
A deeper understanding of these legal frameworks will provide students with a clearer vision of occupational medicine and pave the way for their future career development.
